STOP PRESS: Dolly Jones on Vogue.Com reports on Giles for Ungaro

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

00450big_320x480GILES DEACON is the new creative director of Emanuel Ungaro, as of this morning.

“It’s an exciting relationship both because there are similarities between the Giles and the Ungaro women but there are distinct differences too,” the British designer told us (by mobile phone from a “field of buttercups outside my Venice factory”).

The new appointment is bound to bring a close to an unsettled atmosphere at the French house that has reigned since Emanuel Ungaro himself retired in 2004. In the last six months alone we have seen Lindsay Lohan’s contract as artistic adviser terminated, as well as those of the label’s ceo Mounir Moufarriage and the brand’s head designer Estrella Archs – but Deacon is confident that he can head up a new, positive era.”

“Set to unveil his first Ungaro collection in Paris in October, Deacon – who will now have a new apartment in Paris but continue to divide his time between London, Italy and Paris (where he has shown his own line for the past two seasons) – is thinking of keeping it clear of the catwalk for the first two seasons. “Nothing is set in stone yet but – I want to be able to get my head into it before considering a catwalk show,” he explains. “Plus a presentation can be a much more interesting way to show -I can walk people through the designs and discuss the ideas with them – it makes it a much more personal experience.”

Guru Accessorises the S/S Trends

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Spring is here…or is it!?…And we are all waiting impatiently to put our more relaxed and light wardrobe to use!
The S/S trends are set and we’ve been busy matching them with our gorgeous accessories. We are ready for you SUN!!!!
From all the trends out there we’ve chosen two key looks to accessorise: ‘Maxi Dresses’ and ‘Denim’.
Maxi dresses are statement making pieces all on their own. You don’t need to do too much else in the way of an outfit here. Add some wedges shoes, a few pieces of jewelry, and you’re set to go.”- www.fashionstyle.co.cc

As Vogue shows us, long necklaces to compliment the cleavage, cuffs and bangles are a perfect match to this boohoo like trend. We picked these from our collections:

Even though the head-to-toe denim look is usually a fashion “don’t”, it’s no longer a shame to wear it this way (at least this season). I wouldn’t recommend mixing different denim styles and colors but it’s also very fashionable today so I think we should all get out our denim jackets, shirts, vests, shorts and skirts from the darkest nooks of our wardrobes.”- www.fashion-allure.com
Let’s have a peek at how we’re wearing it, shall we?

To give it some color we’ve decided to match it with Alesha Dixon’s Black Cuff, Lily Allen Pink Smiley bracelet and we even have colorful crystals in a denim cuff by Giles.2020084 (Pink)Storm Cuff Multi Grey - GDC0008
