The first jewellery collection from the acclaimed GQ Designer of the Year; Giles Deacon. Designed in line with the S/S 2010 ready to wear collection this jewellery offers beautiful intricate designs with the trademark Giles ‘twist’ of animal detailing. Each piece has its own identity and are named by the designer in line with his inspiration.

Talking to Vogue.com on the evening of his Jewellery launch, Deacon said that “it’s amazing to be here launching the jewellery in London to support the 25th anniversary.”

As Vogue.com states,

“walking in to the Portico Rooms at Somerset House…for the launch of Giles Deacon’s fine jewellery collection was like walking in to a room of old friends, such were the reminders from Deacon’s past collections that had been transformed into wearable – and very covetable – trinkets.

Among the range were familiar Mickey ears that had been transformed into chunky rings and bangles, while the pieces that most captured our attention were dazzling clusters of shard-like crystals, interspersed with pearls, spikes, pompoms on necklaces and cuffs. Colour-wise in red, silver and black or baby pink and blue with taupe.

There were simpler pieces too, including the designer’s favourite: “My particular favourite is a little character called Eek, he’s from a past collection. He’s really sweet and comes in silver and gold on a pendant, with diamond eyes. He’s the one I would wear”.

So with Brand Guru’s birthday upon us there was an upbeat mood in the office as we reminisced about the successes of the past year. When the phone rang and it was our friends at Sony Pictures asking us and our Client Police Timewear to the new James Bond premiere; Quantum of Solace, we couldn’t quite believe what we were hearing.

So we dolled ourselves up and hit the red carpet for the James Bond Royal World Premiere (with a beady look out for 007 himself!) we were keen to see not only if the new film would live up to expectations but how successful all the brand associations involved could and would be.

With the film getting a definite thumbs up from all of us (and once we had decided to agree to disagree on our preferred Bond) it was clear that our all time favourite spy (who pulls off the not so easy feat of being a hit with men and women alike) will without a doubt continue to be as big a draw for big name brands as it has in the past.

Giles Deacon has designed for Bottega Veneta, Gucci (womenswear), Ralph Lauren, and Louis Vuitton. In 2004 Giles launched his own luxury womenswear collection which is based here in London.

Giles is not only known for bringing high fashion to the affluent clientele, he has also designed for high-street retailer New Look which appeals to the mass market. Most recently (2008) Giles created his first ever high-street jewellery collection in collaboration with our client, Evoke. The Brand Guru team are proud to honour the collection by promoting all PR activities for the Giles for Evoke range.

The event was a night of inspiration. Giles Deacon and Colin McDowell entered the stage. Giles looked as excited as we were, as he waved at the audience, he was dressed causally in white jeans, a white shirt and an apple green jumper and of course he was wearing his signature glasses.

Colin started the conversation with Giles and then took questions from the audience. There were no short of hands in the air. Giles was charming and articulate and it was refreshing to hear how life of fashion and fame has not fazed such a successful designer. He certainly lives up to his name as Britain’s fashion darling….. That was an evening well spent, Giles is a true gem.
