Dusty pinks and romantic reds have been spotted all over the catwalks at New York Fashion Week, getting everyone well and truly in the Valentine’s spirit. Silk was the material of choice for anything from flowing dresses, belt details and delicately draped blouses.
But this year fash-pack has taken a more functional approach, teaming hefty outerwear over feminine flowing dresses. Padded industrial fabrics and bulky fastenings were used in contrast to the silk, roughing up the romantic look, whilst still keeping it fun and flirty. The result is a tough-luxe look, which is pretty AND practical – think Kate Moss’s in the 1990’s.
The grunge theme extended through many of the shows last weekend, with chunky knits, ripped tights and wide legged flared trousers taking centre stage over more structured tailored styles.
This winter’s trends seem to be very wearable and will keep you super snug – whilst staying stylish!

We’re looking forward to seeing what else the New York shows have to offer this week!

Colour blocking is THE big thing for S/S11, and was spotted popping up all over the catwalks at fashion shows from London to New York. So this means it’s time to put your little black party dress to the back of your wardrobe and embrace the most colourful palette of clothes we have seen in years – plus it sure is a fun way of dragging yourself out of the ‘January Blues’ and brightening up your wardrobe! Whether bold, bright, clashing or complimentary – this is a trend set to take the shops by storm.
Colours catching the eye of keen fashionistas are blues, oranges, purples and pinks, and were the top choice of designers such as Marc Jacobs, Versus and Gucci at the S/S11 shows, not forgetting one of the biggest colour blocking trend setters of the season – Giles Deacon.

For a subtle color block outfit – layer muted or pastel shades of clothing, or be daring and combine neon pinks with bright oranges – as long as it’s blocked, it’ll be bang on trend!
Too in love with your black basics but don’t want to miss a beat on the fashion pulse? Then dress them up with some eye popping colour block jewellery – perfectly created by Giles.

2011 is set to be a colourful year!
